Looks Like 2006-2005

My forms play with the line between recognition and understanding. Rearranged andabstracted, they exist in an arena between the idea of an object and the object itself. I play withreflection and absorption, using one to measure the other, lining and misaligning shape and surface.Sometimes the arrangement almost pulls together, smudges, the sounds the shapes makefull andstrange in your mouth, just beyond the grasp of understanding. I like things that look like other thingsbut aren’t, like the illustration of the rabbit/duck. It is not a very good rabbit and it hardly qualifies as aduck but as an in-between object it is the best. I also like words that hold two distinct meanings–is“duck” a noun or a verb? Does “pine refer to a tree or is it about sadness?
