STAY TUNED IDEA
A full color decal printer dropped into our laps and we started experimenting - trouble was everything came out looking pretty cheap - and not in a good way either, more like a coffee mug you could get at the mall with a picture of your grandmother on it.
I was teaching Ceramic History and we were visiting the cartoon research library to get ideas for our 10,000 years of Ceramic History Zine and looking at some flatten Mayan pictograph cylinders that were being restored and it just jelled - embrace the cheap.
Along with embrace the cheap came embrace the idea of time as a material and Stay Tuned was born as a mash up of Burma shave signs and dishes you could find in laundry detergent and serialization and my love of Jonny Quest. I would write the story every week very quickly and we would go to work illustrating it with images and photos and pictures all cut and scanned and redrawn with the final output as a full color decal that was then fired on - a little too hot. Here's the start -
